TRANSFERRING TO

TAIN ROYAL ACADEMY

Most new pupils transfer from our associated primary schools: Craighill, Edderton, Gledfield, Hill of Fearn, Hilton, Inver, Knockbreck, and Tarbat Old.

For many pupils it is an exciting time but we realise that there can also be a great deal of apprehension. To help allay these fears, depute rector, Mr Alastair McKinlay and Mrs Isabel Anderson, accompanied by colleagues from Guidance and Support for Learning, will visit all the local primary schools in May to meet P7 pupils and answer their queries. They will give pupils a booklet written by pupils from a previous S 1 which will deal with common concerns and which will describe the daily routines at TRA.

In addition, P7 pupils will spend a few days at TRA in June following their S 1 timetable and meeting staff. They will be accompanied by S6 Buddies who will also look out for them when the pupils return in August.

Parental concerns are not forgotten in this process either. On Thursday 19 June you are invited to attend an evening meeting at the Academy when any queries you may have will be answered.

For pupils transferring from other schools, there are well established routines to make pupils feel at home in their new school.
