Introducing Cashless Catering
As part of the Highland Councils on-going commitment to improving the quality of its School Meal service, the Catering Service has embarked on a rollout Programme to introduce a new cashless system for the payment of school meals in all secondary schools. A unique meal account is set up for each pupil which can be accessed/topped up using the their National Entitlement Card (Young Scot Card) or by PIN. More information on National Entitlement Cards can be found on the Young Scot Site http://www.youngscot.org/
Pupils no longer pay cash for their meals at the point of sale, they will be able to add money to their meal accounts via revaluation units sited in convenient areas of the school. The cashless system for school meals helps reduce queuing, provides anonymity for those receiving free school meals and improves the overall quality of the school meal experience.
At the revaluation unit, pupils are able to deposit cash or check their meal account balance using a PIN or their Young Scot Card. The machine takes notes, £2, £1, 50p, 20p & 10p coins, it does not give change.
You can now pay for your child's school meals online through the Council's website. Simply visit the Highland Council Website, click on the 'PAY' icon on the home page and follow the payment instructions on screen.
In order to make an online payument for school meals you will need to have your child's Scottish Candidate Number (SCN).
