At 5.30am on Sunday 2nd June a bus load of bleary-eyed, but highly contented pupils arrived back in Tain after spending four full, fabulous days in the most romantic capital of the world. Their senses had been bombarded with urban vistas and design, historical beauty and grandeur, the work of artistic giants, the spirituality of holy places, the scale of shopping opportunities, the intimacy and elegance of little restaurants and the mind-blowing impact of the world of science and technology, among many other personal firsts. The overwhelming verdict was that they wanted to do it all again and some said they did not really want to come home. For the staff, who put so much work into the preparation and execution of the venture, nothing else could have been a greater endorsement of their efforts. It is a trip to be repeated for others. Importantly, the pupils must now take time to reflect on their experiences, and let these reflections change their attitudes, outlook and even their actions in the future. There is no doubt that France’s capital will see them again!
